Good Managers Are Born Not Made Management Essay
Great Managers Are Born Not Made Management Essay The way in to an effective association is said to exist in a decent administrator. It is in certainty the adequacy of this director and the characteristics that they have that are indispensable to the turn of events and protection of an effective administration framework inside a company. The inquiry remains in any case, regarding whether these great administrators are conceived, on the off chance that they have characteristics that will form them into incredible pioneers of things to come. Or on the other hand would they say they are made? Is it conceivable to create and procure the vital abilities to turn into the great administrator a fruitful association needs? It should initially be recognized that pioneers and administrators are regularly alluded to expecting they are precisely the same thing be that as it may, there are a few contrasts that should be explained. There is frequently some disarray because of the way that it is especially hard to characterize an administrator on the grounds that an all around acknowledged definition doesn't exist. As indicated by Tripathi, (2008, p.2) a supervisor is one who adds to the associations objectives in a roundabout way by coordinating the endeavors of others-not by playing out the errand himself. Authority and the executives are firmly interrelated in such a case that you are a chief of an association, you are generally the most significant pioneer (Kouzes Posner 2010, p.338). The most clear qualification between a pioneer and a chief exists in what administration alludes to. Authority doesn't allude to a situation at the highest point of an association and on the grounds that an administrator holds that particular position, it doesn't mean they are driving. Pioneers have willing adherents where their entitlement to lead is earned from those devotees through their impact. They expect to make change utilizing their own capacity and can't utilize compulsion yet rather rouse with their vision (Huth 2001). An administrator then again, must hold the position to accomplish results through others whereby their entitlement to oversee is conceded by possession. Administrators must be in a place of intensity where they can utilize intimidation and facilitate exercises (Huth 2001). In a ny case, it's not possible for anyone to deny that one commendations the other. It could create the impression that dependent on the over one could very conceivable be brought into the world a pioneer yet not an administrator, in spite of the fact that this can likewise be questioned. Kouzes and Posner (2010, p.339) think of it as a legend that the noti on of administration is held for those fortunate enough to be brought into the world with it. Authority is, a discernible arrangement of aptitudes and capacities (Kouzes Posner 2010, p.338). Thusly the question despite everything stays with regards to whether a decent director can be made; it might simply be that a decent supervisor should likewise be required to have great authority aptitudes. There are doubtlessly numerous partnerships that despite everything esteem the hypothesis that: Good directors are brought into the world not made, anyway the normal authoritative disappointments that can be recognized inside numerous individual organizations recommend that this hypothesis is in truth imperfect. Werner and DeSimone (2006, p.441) recommend that administration advancement is an enormous method to build the adequacy of administrators inside an association. Werner and DeSimone (2006, p.441) make a solid point underscoring that despite the fact that as indicated by mainstream thinking the capacity to oversee is an innate capacity, there is a contemporary view that the KSAOs (information, aptitudes, capacities and different qualities) which all work to build up a successful administrator can be learned or gained. In any case, before addressing how organizations can build up a freshly discovered comprehension on creating powerful administration inside an association, the id ea of the board advancement should right off the bat be clarified. Werner and DeSimone (2006, p.441) characterized the board advancement as: An associations cognizant exertion to give its supervisors (and possible administrators) with chances to learn, develop, and change, in order to produce over the drawn out a unit of directors with the aptitudes important to work successfully in that association. The definition above backings the thought that administration advancement ought to be seen explicit to a specific association. This is because of the way that every association is one of a kind and should intend to form people into viable supervisors inside the setting of the specific association. Moreover, the whole thought behind administration advancement is the way that representatives are conceded the chance to learn, develop and improve. Consequently when you allude this back to the capacity to additionally create ones abilities, as per Werner and DeSimone (2006, p.441) it helps directors in figuring out how to learn. The creators additionally show that administration improvement is comprised of three segments: (1) the board instruction, (2) the executives preparing, and (3) hands on encounters (Werner DeSimone 2006, p.442). It is these very segments that Werner and DeSimone accept firmly add to the advancement of a compelling chief. Williamson (2006) agrees that hands on experience is one of the most huge expectations to learn and adapt. As indicated by Williamson (2006) a viable supervisor is comprised of a scope of aptitudes that go past the misinterpretation that the sole job of an administrator is to guide individuals. Williamson (2006) made a rundown of attributes and aptitudes that are important for an administrator to have to accordingly be powerful. A portion of these aptitudes and attributes incorporate; being learned by understanding the objectives and destinations of the organization. Understanding the desires you should meet alongside the objectives and destinations. Acknowledging and comprehend the estimation of their group, being sympathetic and realizing how to deal with their time and utilize their time productively, passing those abilities onto their group. The entirety of the above are instances of abilities that are increased through preparing and through experience, related to the parts of Werner and DeSimone. A decent administrator is required to try sincerely and empty a ton of exertion into his professional training to extricate the important exercises from each understanding, learning and developing. There is contradiction among the executives journalists about the characterization of administrative capacities anyway Tripathi (2008, p.3) arranges the capacities into six sorts; Planning, Organizing, Directing, Controlling, Innovation and Representation. Arranging is the capacity that figures out what ought to be done, getting ready for what's to come. Arranging alludes to giving the business everything helpful to its working including, staff, crude materials, devices, capital. Moreover Tripathi (2008, p.3) incorporates staffing as a capacity inside Organizing whereby the administrator endeavors to locate the opportune individual for each activity. Just by accepting these two capacities for instance it very well may be noticed that life and work experience have a colossal impact in the advancement of a powerful chief. One can't be brought into the world with the information to comprehend the requirements of an association nor would they be able to have the experience to pass judgment on a people capacities and dispense them the proper activity. These capacities are procured and created after some time. There will consistently be the conviction that great chiefs are conceived and in certainty not made, in light of the fact that they hold the capacity to oversee which is something natural and can't be conferred via preparing.

Commercial Cycles and Global Indication â⬠MyAssignmenthelp.com
Question: Examine about the Commercial Cycles and Global Indication. Answer: Presentation: It happens when laborers lose their work because of the downturns that exist in the business cycle. The total national output is utilized to tell when business contracts. Given that the economy contracts for in any event two quarters, at that point it is supposed to be in a downturn. At the point when the economy returns to the period of extension in the business cycle the board, the individuals who are not utilized or were laid off will reemerge the activity showcase. Patterned work is transitory since it relies upon the withdrawal length. A downturn is average in the event that it goes on for year and a half. A downturn on the opposite side can keep going for even ten years (Layard et al, 2013 pg. 71). Frictional joblessness It happens when laborers surrender their work to scan for improved ones.in most events, this sort of joblessness occurs on a deliberate premise, however in different cases, it very well may be because of the end of an occupation with a given reason. The term grinding is utilized to show the time, exertion and the consumption that is utilized by a laborer to secure some new position positions (Layard et al, 2013 pg. 81). As a rule, grinding isn't avoidable since specialist need to search for new chances, go to interviews and need to move even before building up new position openings. Be that as it may, frictional joblessness is as a rule a transient type of joblessness. This sort of joblessness alludes to the confuse that exists between the employments that are accessible contrasted with the skills.it isn't brought about by the powers of business cycle the executives like the repetitive joblessness yet by different powers. It occurs in the cases whereby the movements in the economy makes it hard for some given gatherings of individuals to secure positions. This sort of joblessness can keep the pace of joblessness high significantly after the downturn is gone (Layard et al, 2013 pg. 112). This alludes to a working agreement whereby a laborer is utilized for a given period in a year, and when the agreement terminates, at that point the specialist stays jobless. Models, where request, creation, and work are occasional, incorporate the travel industry and relaxation and retailing (Layard et al, 2013 pg. 121). The interest bend is descending: The principal purpose behind the descending slanting bend is with impact with the Pigous riches impact. From the essential information, we realize that the ostensible incentive for cash is fixed. Be that as it may, the genuine worth is for the most part relied upon the degree of costs. This in light of the fact that a lower cost level makes the buying capacity to increment in every cash. At the point when the cost level goes down, at that point the buyers will in general become wealthier and henceforth the purchaser spending increments. Thus a drop in the cost level causes the clients to spend all the more subsequently expanding the total interest (Layard et al, 2013 pg. 140). The subsequent thinking is concerning Keynes paces of premium that the amount estimation of cash that is required is dependent upon the degree of costs. Significant level of costs implies that it will take the shopper a great deal of cash to buy the huge amounts. This implies the buyers could purchase more supplies if the costs were low. This makes the clients keep critical measures of cash at the bank. The enormous amounts in the bank make the bank to build the credits and consequently to diminish the loan fees. A drop in cost along these lines causes a decrease in the loan cost and afterward causes an expansion in the venture lastly raise the degree of total interest (Layard et al, 2013 pg. 154). Increment in the paces of premium lessens the purchaser spending and furthermore the venture lastly prompting the total fall popular for the Australian dollar. At the point when the total interest goes down, at that point the gracefully likewise will in general go down. Lower total interest will cause: A negative financial development usually known as the downturn Higher paces of joblessness Decrease in the use on imports and expanded rivalry fair and square of fares. The graph beneath shows the impacts of financing costs on total interest (Layard et al, 2013 pg. 167). Self-rule in the money related approach Under class, states can execute the self-governing monetary strategies so they can address issues of swelling and furthermore yield. Since the monetary strategies influence the paces of expansion, governments reserve the privilege to determine on their since a long time ago run pace of swelling which don't need to procure swelling rates from different nations, a case that is seen under the fixed conversion standard (Baxter Stockman, 2012 pg. 188). The requirement for the support of both the inside and outside equalization in a metallic standard depends on a contention that the last causes fixed pace of conversion scale. Given that the costs of cash are fixed and that any areas creation and different factors in the economy are adjusted, the conversion scale can't along these lines change. The last prompts erosion in the monetary framework in general (Baxter Stockman, 2012 pg. 165). This is the essential shortcoming. The modifications in the trade rates are progressively apparent contrasted with the suggestion set somewhere around the essentials (Baxter Stockman, 2012 pg. 185). Broadened use for the instance of money related arrangement The drawback of the capacity to utilize lead the purported free monetary approaches the executives is the ability of making higher paces of swelling. The expansionary or contractionary money related procedures can give a talk to the recessionary or the inflationary loads (Baxter Stockman, 2012 pg. 190). The solidness in costs shows that there are insignificant changes in costs and they are normal. The calculate that most cases influences the security of costs is the monetary strategy. The short run variances in any nation can be lessened by the metallic gauges and are likewise called business cycle. The thinking behind the decline in the essentialness in the items might be lying in the solidness of costs. The national banks are required to have coming up, enough measure of stores under the metallic standard for them to keep up their equality in gold and furthermore be in control of additional gold to mediate for the trade rates (Baxter Stockman, 2012 pg. 145). Producers of the metal that is in the metallic gauges impact the macroeconomic conditions in the nations that have the metallic norm (Baxter Stockman, 2012 pg. 165). SAT Closings and Scores for Make-up Date of 2/20 - UGA Undergraduate Admissions SAT Closings and Scores for Make-up Date of 2/20 A number of students will be taking the SAT on January 23, and if you take it on this date and you have already requested for the scores to be sent to UGA, we will be able to use these scores in our decision process for Fall 2016 applicants. For some students who have signed up for the January 23 SAT exam though, the weather has forced a closing of their test site and the make-up date is now set for February 20. Unfortunately, we will not be able to use these February 20 SAT scores in the review process for our Fall 2016 review. While we would like to be able to use the February 20 scores, unfortunately these scores will not get to UGA until roughly the second week of March, which is when we will be preparing to release decisions. Our decision process is a massive project, and one where we need to keep on track in order to make the process flow correctly. In order to allow students to receive decisions, work with financial aid, and make plans for the next year, we have to make sure we get decisions out in a timely fashion. As such, we will not be able to use the February 20 scores. We hope this helps you understand more about this issue and our process. Go Dawgs!

The At The Rhode Island Parent Information Network
On June 11, 2016, I attended an event at the Rhode Island Parent Information Network (RIPIN) Center in Cranston, RI. The RIPIN Center helps families and children get the help they need to achieve health and education goals. There are different sessions that go on within the month for different needs; every second Saturday is the meeting specially geared to Deaf children and families. The meeting was held by Elsbeth, who is a mother of a child who is hard of hearing. This session in particular involved transitioning into college. He stated to the group that he was looking into colleges and his mom, who was also present, was afraid about his academic success. This student chooses to use hearing aids and lip-reading as a method of understanding what hearing individuals are saying. His mom stated when teachers do not follow with his 504 plan, he ends up doing poorly in the class; otherwise he i s an academically high achieving student. Both he and his mom have high hopes, he wants to attend Brown for a science major. He instantly became sad when mentioning that Umass is more proabable due to his hearing loss. He seemed to be timid about asking for help or enforcing his 504 plan with teachers. The student stated that it is a hassle for the teacher and he would rather manage with what he can. Exosphere Definition and Facts
The exosphere is the outermost layer of the Earths atmosphere, located above the thermosphere. It extends from about 600 km until it thins out to merge with interplanetary space. This makes the exosphere about 10,000 km or 6,200 miles thick or about as wide as the Earth. The top boundary of Earths exosphere extends about halfway to the Moon. For other planets with substantial atmospheres, the exosphere is the layer above the denser atmospheric layers, but for planets or satellites without dense atmospheres, the exosphere is the region between the surface and interplanetary space. This is called the surface boundary exosphere. It has been observed for the Earths Moon, Mercury,Ã and the Galilean moons of Jupiter. The word exosphere comes from the Ancient Greek words exo, meaning outside or beyond, and sphaira, which means sphere. Exosphere Characteristics The particles in the exosphere are extremely far apart. They dont quite fit the definition of a gas because the density is too low for collisions and interactions to occur. Nor are they necessarily plasma, because the atoms and molecules arent all electrically charged. Particles in the exosphere can travel hundreds of kilometers along a ballistic trajectory before bumping into other particles. The Earths Exosphere The lower boundary of the exosphere, where it meets the thermosphere, is called the thermopause. Its height above sea level ranges from 250-500 km up to 1000 km (310 to 620 miles), depending on solar activity. The thermopause is called the exobase, exopause, or critical altitude. Above this point, barometric conditions do not apply. The temperature of the exosphere is nearly constant and very cold. At the upper boundary of the exosphere, the solar radiation pressure on hydrogen exceeds the gravitational pull back toward Earth. The fluctuation of the exobase due to solar weather is important because it affects atmospheric drag on space stations and satellites. Particles that reach the boundary are lost from the Earths atmosphere to space. The composition of the exosphere is different from that of the layers beneath it. Only the lightest gases occur, barely held to the planet by gravity. The Earths exosphere consists mainly of hydrogen, helium, carbon dioxide, and atomic oxygen. The exosphere is visible from space as a fuzzy region called the geocorona. The Lunar Atmosphere On Earth, there are about 1019 molecules per cubic centimeter of air at sea level. In contrast, there are fewer than a million (106) molecules in the same volume in the exosphere. The Moon does not have a true atmosphere because its particles dont circulate, dont absorb much radiation, and have to be replenished. Yet, its not quite a vacuum, either. The lunar surface boundary layer has a pressure of about 3 x 10-15 atm (0.3 nano Pascals). The pressure varies depending on whether its day or night, but the entire mass weighs less than 10 metric tonnes. The exosphere is produced by outgassing of radon and helium from radioactive decay. The solar wind, micrometeor bombardment, and the solar wind also contribute particles. Unusual gases found in the Moons exosphere, but not in the atmospheres of Earth, Venus, or Mars include sodium and potassium. Other elements and compounds found in the Moons exosphere include argon-40, neon, helium-4, oxygen, methane, nitrogen, carbon monoxide, and carb on dioxide. A trace amount of hydrogen is present. Very minute quantities of water vapor may also exist. In addition to its exosphere, the Moon may have an atmosphere of dust that hovers above the surface due to electrostatic levitation. Exosphere Fun Fact While the exosphere of the Moon is nearly a vacuum its larger than the exosphere of Mercury. One explanation for this is that Mercury is much closer to the Sun, so the solar wind can sweep away particles more easily. References Bauer, Siegfried; Lammer, Helmut. Aging Literature Free Essays
This literature review addresses several issues related to the study of aging. Theoretical perspectives, research methods, and current controversies are reviewed. One issue that has beset the development of research on aging is a definition of old age (Scanzoni Scanzoni, 1988, p. We will write a custom essay sample on Aging Literature or any similar topic only for you Order Now 549). Research in the United Kingdom and the United States has found that the older a person is in a chronological sense, the later is the chronological age at which that person tends to think old age begins. The concept of old age also is affected by social stratum: lower-status persons, as an example tend to think that old age begins in the fifties, while higher-status persons tend to think that old age begins around age 65. Advances in medical science and technology have led to increased life spans for an increasing proportion of the population; however, social development has not kept pace (Scanzoni Scanzoni, 1988, p. 549). Thus, many among the growing numbers of older people lead increasingly less rewarding lives. Further, the increasing numbers of persons in the population aged 65 or older demand that research into aging develop methods that address the differences among age groupings within the 65 and over classification. There also is a subjective context to aging (Scanzoni Scanzoni, 1988, p. 550). Younger people tend to perceiving old age differently from older people, at a general level, and at a specific level all persons do not age . . . ehavior will be evaluated in the context of oneââ¬â¢s basic beliefs. If these basic beliefs are unrealistic or irrational, oneââ¬â¢s expectancies will likely also tend to be unrealistic and irrational. Adaptation enables an individual to understand the surrounding environment (McDougall, 1995, pp. 26-27). Adaptation occurs through the functioning of the mental processes of assimilation and accommodation. Assimilation involves the perception and interpretation of new information within the context of existing knowledge and understanding. Accommodation is a more advanced process that involves the restructuring of mental organization in order to include new nformation. The ecological approach to psychology is a functional approach. In this approach, psychological problems are construed as instances of adaptation. Ecological science defines perception as an awareness of oneââ¬â¢s environment. The focus in on a beingââ¬â¢s vertical experience. Vertical experience implies that an environment permits a being to both live and reproduce. The environme nt is integral to this definition of perception, because varieties of meaningful experience cannot be studied as instances of perception unless an environmental component is integral to the being How to cite Aging Literature, Papers

Privacy Rights And Collective Security At The Airport â⬠Free Samples
Question: Discuss about the Privacy Rights And Collective Security At The Airport. Answer: Introduction There have been many controversies between the priorities over two very important things and those are collective security and the privacy rights. This controversy can be better seen in the airport security in different cities. The common believed notion is the fact that the privacy rights of a person are more important than the entire collective security. It has been seen multiple times that the terrorists export and import weapons and the smugglers do the same with the prohibited drugs. In this paper, the controversy between these two facts will be discussed properly indeed. It would require much research on the privacy rights and collective security at the airport. Collective security at airport The airports are considered to be very sensible places as millions of people come and go from one city to other. This is the reason the collective security has been tightened in the airports of the big cities. The incident of 9/11 has shown that the terrorists had captured the airplanes and crashed the World Trade Center to dust completely in the year 2001. This is the very reason of tightening the airport security in the big cities. The main purpose of tightening this security is to keep the common people safe.[1] The USA congress had passed the Aviation and Transportation Security Act as they did not want to take any more risks regarding that. They had also set up the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).[2] They had employed the federal employees to take over the charge of the airport security. There are some methods by which the collective security measures are taken in the airports.[3] These are the screening the baggage of the passengers at the time of immigration, x-ray screening on the bags that will be carried on by the passengers, they use the metal detectors for the security of the passengers.[4] Another way of collective security is the Secure Flight Program, which includes the prescreening of the names of the passengers and comparing them with the watch-list provided by the airlines. These things sometimes become to be very much harassing for some of the passengers. Some of them even feel that their privacy rights have been interfered.[5] This is why they raise the prominen t questions about the security checking at the airports. This factor really needs to be highlighted as instances have been found when the security often harasses and embarrasses some dignified people from other countries in the name of security checking.[6] Privacy rights at airports In this section the aspect of the privacy rights would be discussed for the better understanding of the whole scenario. It is an important matter that the checking procedure in various countries have increased globally after the 9/11 attacks and the recent terrorist attacks in the counties like UK, Belgium and France.[7] These include the various security procedures, interviews and screenings at different levels. Many international travelers have always asked about their exact rights of privacy in the airports while going through a security check. Their intention is to know about the ways they can escape the harassment that is being executed at them.[8] It is a very important thing to know that the government officials or the law enforcement officers cannot stop and detain any person just on the basis of their nationality, race or skin color. This is absolutely illegal and punishable offence to be executed on those government officials. The point of views of religion, gender, and ethnicity will also have to be discussed in this case as well. If the travelers feel by any means that they are discriminated by the security checking officials, they can complain to the airport authorities or share their feedback for redress from different government departments.[9] There are several types of body scanning at the airports nowadays like the Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT), Whole Body Imaging (WBI) scanners and the Full-body scanners. The travelers can address the people at the security check point to for other alternative scanning systems if they have any personal issues or physical problems regarding that particular scanning procedure. If a female traveler is searched and scanned by the male security officers, it is obviously not fair and interfering in the rights of those people. So, they can request the pat-down procedure to be conducted by the security officers of the same gender. The travelers can also expect a private screening or scanning during anytime. If the airport authorities do not have that advantage, the travelers have the right to protest against it and ask it to be arranged very soon.[10] When the pat-down process is going on, the passengers can ask for the chairs to sit. The travelers can also disclose to the person about the pain or the injuries he or she had earlier received. This would help the security personnel from touching or pressing that injured part of the body.[11] These things mean that airport security checking is indeed necessary but the privacy rights of the people will also have to be remembered as well. The security personnel cannot just inflict their decisions on the passengers and give the excuse of the laws and regulations of the security checking.[12] The first priority should always be on the privacy rights of the passengers. The collective security checking will obviously be done but the privacy rights of the passengers should not be hampered at any cost. These things will have to be kept in mind since the privacy of any human being should not be interrupted by anyone. Conclusion This paper can be concluded by saying that the privacy rights of the human beings are of the first priority. This should not be compromised with anything. The collective security check in the airports has been increased due to the fear of smuggling rackets and terrorism activities. However, there is always a way for retaining the privacy rights of the human beings. It can only be said that the human beings should be permitted with their privacy rights and this should not be interrupted for the excuse of the airport security check. Free Essays on Symbolism In A Rose For Emily
The Symbolism in A Rose For Emily Authors have always used symbolism as a way to represent the restrained qualities of the characters, places, and events in their stories. In William Faulknerââ¬â¢s short story ââ¬Å"A Rose for Emily,â⬠he uses symbolism to compare the Grierson house with Emily Griersonââ¬â¢s physical decline, her shift in social standing, and her unwillingness to accept change. When compared, the Grierson house is used to symbolize Emilyââ¬â¢s physical attributes. In its prime, the Grierson house is described as ââ¬Å"white, decorated with cupolas and spires and scrolled balconies in the heavily lightsome style of the seventies.â⬠This description suggests that the house was built to impress the townspeople. Also, the wealthy women back then, Emily not withstanding, were dressed in noticeable style. This is because their appearance was seen as a direct hint on their husbands and/or fathers. This display of luxury was especially designed by men to give a sense of wealth to onlookers. Her father regarded Emily as property. Her importance to him was strongly showy, just as their luxurious home was. As the plot progresses, the reader is clearly made aware of the physical decline of both the house and Emily. Just as the house is described as ââ¬Å"smelling of dust and disuse,â⬠evidence of Emilyââ¬â¢s own aging is given when her voice is similarly said to be ââ¬Å"harsh, and rusty, as if from disuse.â⬠Eventually, at the time of Emilyââ¬â¢s death, the house is seen by the townspeople as ââ¬Å"an eyesore among eyesores,â⬠and Emily is regarded as ââ¬Å"a fallen monument.â⬠Both are empty and lifeless; neither is even remotely thought of as their former magnificence. Medical Genetics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Medical Genetics - Essay Example Individual II.5 is a homozygous normal parent while the partner is a homozygous affected person for a particular DNA coding conferring to a wild type phenotype. However, in an autosomal dominant inheritance, only a single copy of the wild-type phenotype allele is required for an offspring to be susceptible to expressing the symptoms. Therefore, each offspring has an equal probability of 50% of acquiring the mutant gene allele symptoms, and the other half would not be affected by the autosomal inheritance according to Onkers, I. (2009). Since the type of inheritance in this particular genetic pedigree is an autosomal inheritance, a heterozygous male (Bb) for the DNA coding mating to an affected female (bb)individual would produce one out of four offsprings expressing altered symptoms. However, within the unaffected offspring there would be two carriers (Bb) who will not show undesired traits for a particular condition. This is because when a homozygous wild-type mate with a heterozygous individual, there is a 25% chance of acquiring mutant (affected) individuals (Relethford, 2012). In a dominant, autosomal inheritance, individual III 1 (bb) can only acquire healthy offspring if she marries a homozygous normal man (BB). However, though the father (bb) of the individual III 1 (bb) suffers from the same disability as she does, the fathersââ¬â¢ disability does not affect her daughterââ¬â¢s subsequently genetic inheritance (Nielsen & Slatkin, 2013).

Christianity vs Islam in the Middle Ages Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Christianity vs Islam in the Middle Ages - Essay Example However, it was, modern historians agree, a dynamic string of centuries when from the ruins of the Roman Empire new powers emerged, namely Islam-ruled states of al-Andalus in Spain in the West, the Ottoman Empire in the East and between them the new power houses of Christendom, where crusades originated. It was not simply a battle of religions, but a clash of civilizations to dominate the known world (excluding China and India). In this battle modern Europe was born, both in terms of aggressive ââ¬Å"crusaderâ⬠attitude and missionary approach of assimilating other cultures. Moreover, even such a modern term like ââ¬Å"cold warâ⬠first appeared in Spain in the XIII century to mark the difficulties two cultures trying to coexist are facing2. The Islam and the Christianity, in an odd manner, managed to simultaneously co-exist and to battle almost uninterruptedly on the European scene for more than eight centuries. These two civilizations were ââ¬Å"caught up in a situation where old cultural and social patterns had been broken and new ones were formingâ⬠3. Between 636, when the Battle of Yarmouk took place, and 1453, when Constantinople fell, the head city of an already beheaded Byzantine Empire, Europeââ¬â¢s history was dominated by constant rivalry between Islam and Christendom, whose ââ¬Å"attitudes to Islam had been compounded of ignorance, misperception, hostility and fearâ⬠4. On the other hand, in the process of fighting for domination Islam and Christianity inevitably borrowed from each other, while constantly desecrating the world of ââ¬Å"the otherâ⬠. The largest cathedral of the Byzantine Empire, ââ¬Å"St. Sophiaâ⬠, was transformed to a mosque by the Turks, while many mosques in Spain were changed to churches during and after the Reconquista. Historians agree that this struggle began in 636 when the armies of Byzantium faced those of the Rashidun Caliphate in the Battle of Yarmouk and were defeated. This massive

How To Build And Maintain Stakeholder Relationships Management Essay
How To Build And Maintain Stakeholder Relationships Management Essay Organizations change constantly, a projects stakeholder set will change as stakeholder change roles within the organization, move into different roles or leave the organization to take up roles in other organizations. For whatever reason, the ability of individual stakeholder to influence the project may increase or decrease. Most project management methodologies define ways to identify project stakeholder, and then base their entire communications strategies on this initial, and only, identification. Many projects fail because stakeholders do not continue to support the vision or objectives of the project. In many cases this is because the team does not recognize changes in the relative power or position of key stakeholder and fails to make appropriate adjustments in their stakeholder management activities. This study reported upon in this paper is focused on support for project managers in building and maintaining relationships with project stakeholder. This is accomplished through using a practical methodology that allows the project team to identify and priorities the projects stakeholder and then stakeholders needs of the project to develop an appropriate relationship management strategy. The underlying assumption for this research is the stakeholder management is extremely difficult, the project manager and his/her project team members must identify, engage and sustain relationships with a diverse set of groups and individuals (including themselves) who can impact the project in many ways. HOW TO BUILD AND MAINTAIN STAKEHOLDER RELATIONSHIPS GOTTA QUIRK (1999 2012): Communication and trust is the main source for creating a lasting relationship between stakeholders. Through effective communications and building trusting relationships, organizations should be committed to ensure that all stakeholders are involved in shaping the decisions of organizations in a meaningful manner. The commitment to actively build and maintain long-term relationships with stakeholders is based on two fundamental guiding principles communication and trust.à These two principles shape the development of stakeholder relations philosophy which includes: ENMAX Corporation (2012): Encouraging stakeholder participation in the decision-making process Providing timely information Open, and honest communication Listening to stakeholder concerns Respecting diverse opinions Seeking mutually beneficial solutions Learning from each other Moreover, stakeholder relationships that are unmanaged or mismanaged have a number of less than favorable consequences for companies. These include unnecessary expenses, and a lack of buy-in to processes and initiatives aimed at transforming the company. However, stakeholder management is a difficult undertaking for organizations because it requires investment and commitment to a long term structured process. While there are a number of efficient information management tools available through marketing, it is important to start with the big picture who are we going to be speaking to and how? BY IDENTIFYING THE STAKEHOLDERS Particularly in larger organizations, this process is a critical one because the network of stakeholders with an investment or interest in a business is broader than we would originally have imagined. Consider that likely stakeholders include the board, management, other employees, customers, suppliers and the community within which we operate. It is important when making this list that we gather and collate as much information as possible about the individuals and groups on it. This will enable us to start thinking through appropriate and targeted communication with them. BY PRIORITIZING THE STAKEHOLDER However noble our intentions regarding stakeholder relationship management are, there unfortunately have to be some individuals and group whos needs are more important and who require prioritization if we intend maintaining their support. While this sucks for the interns, the chairman of organizational board will be pleased to know that you have his best interests at heart. Prioritizing begins with segmenting a list into groups and then listing them in order of importance. This process needs to be completed with the organizational goals and the level of stakeholder information in mind. Ultimately, this will ensure personalization and consistency across communication channels at a later point in the process. BY UNDERSTANDING THEIR NEEDS Stakeholders require consistent and regular communication and service. However, their individual distinctiveness requires that this communication be personalized and targeted. This is difficult enough in the corner store but is universally impossible across larger organizations; the number of individuals is just too great. The next thing is to understand each group. A key part of this is to know what information they have, how accurate it is, how it aligns with the organizational goals and what information they need. This should align with the process of prioritization, with the groups at the bottom needing the least amount of information and the groups at the top needing the most. BY BUILDING TRUSTIN RELATIONSHIPS Collaborative partnerships depend on trust. Partners must communicate effectively and resolve conflicts, especially about sensitive issues like distribution of rewards and the involvement of host organizations the in laws. As in any relationship, attention must be given to renewing the relationship and sustaining the commitment of the partners by building and maintaining support of the parent organization, evaluating progress and celebrating success. BY ENCOURAGING THE STAKEHOLDERS This is the act of giving someone support, confidence, or hope that it is well even though they do not see it. When we encourage our stakeholders, it makes them feel the company do have plans for them and that would make them hold on. BY SATISFYING THE STAKEHOLDERS Satisfaction is important in maintaining a good relationship because when one is not satisfied, they would always look for a place where they would be satisfied. Even the study of economics makes us to understand that man is insatiable. So as a company, lets look for a way to satisfy the stakeholders needs. BY ENGAGING WITH THE STAKEHOLDERS Now the easy part is over and you actually have to find an innovative and efficient manner in which to communicate with these stakeholders. Whatever tactics you use, it is helpful to have a communication plan in place so that the process runs smoothly without negatively impacting on productivity. Using a collaborative software package could be the answer, particularly if you want to keep a specific group up to date about a specific project. Regular status reports are useful and email newsletters are very effective for those individuals who are not privy to sensitive information. Going one step further, these can be divided into an internal and an external newsletter; the first being only for staff and the second for clients and interested parties. For small groups and occasionally large ones, meetings are a good way to get a message across and invite buy in and feedback. Remember that in order to be effective, this engagement should be two-way. Stakeholders need a forum to air concer ns and grievances while having the comfort of knowing they will get a response. Neglecting this element of communication is bound to undermine the ultimate goals of your organization. Regardless of tactics though, the important part of this aspect of the process is to understand and manage stakeholder expectations. The stakeholders need to know when to expect communication and what sort of communication to expect. MONITORING THE ENGAGEMENT EFFORTS There is little point in engagement with the stakeholders if it is perceived to be token or ineffectual. While its admirable that you are trying, this lack of efficacy is not going to encourage buy-in and may undermine your company, particularly if the negativity spreads. It is thus important to track and monitor your efforts and gauge the response to them. Speak to individuals directly, encourage feedback and through email tracking assess whether people are reading the information that are been disseminated. Tweak your efforts accordingly. Part of this is keeping a finger on the pulse of the companys reputation which is also important. Conduct surveys if necessary and establish who thinks what and why. Knowing what the perception is will go a long way toward finding the necessary means to turn it around. ISSUES THAT MAY AFFECT STAKEHOLDER RELATIONSHIPS AND THE POSSIBLE AREAS OF CONFLICT CIM (1998): The issues that may affect relationships are likewise the same as the areas of conflict, and this is certainly the opposite of the factors that builds relationship. For example, when a stakeholders interest in an organization is different from that of other stakeholders group, this may affect the relationship between stakeholders or cause conflict to an extent. Another example is trust, when there is no trust in an organization; it could also affect a relationship or cause conflict. Also consider when there is no: Control mutuality (think mutual control) the degree to which parties agree on who has the rightful power to influence one another. Trust one partys level of confidence in and willingness to open ones self to the other party. Commitment The extent to which each party believes and feels that the relationship is worth spending energy to maintain and promote. Satisfaction The extent to which each party feels favorably toward the other because positive expectations about the relationship are reinforced. Exchange relationships In an exchange relationship, one party gives benefits to the other only because the other has provided benefits in the past or is expected to do so in the future. Communal relationships In a communal relationship, both parties provide benefits to the other because they are concerned for the welfare of the other even if they get nothing in return. STRENGTHENING AND RESOLVING CONFLICT IN RELATIONSHIPS ASSESS THE STRENGTH OF THE RELATIONSHIP The first thing is to survey the stakeholder group using some variant of the questionnaire, this will reveal how weak or strong the relationship is and where it is weak or strong. For example, in one project I did, we learned the organization had excellent scores with all stakeholder groups on all but one of these six factors. So improving stakeholder relationships in that case was a matter of focusing on that one factor. BUILD STAKEHOLDERS TRUST IN THE ORGANIZATION Consistently treat stakeholders fairly. Whenever the organization makes important decisions take stakeholder opinions into account and otherwise demonstrate concern for stakeholders. Keep organizational promises. Demonstrate competence by doing what was proposed. à PAY ATTENTION AND RESPOND TO WHAT STAKEHOLDERS SAY AND DO Demonstrate the belief that stakeholder opinions are legitimate by responding to them. Give stakeholders a say in the organizations decision-making process, especially in those areas that affect the stakeholder group. DEMONSTRATE COMMITMENT TO STAKEHOLDERS Show stakeholders that the organization wants to maintain a long-term relationship with them. Engage stakeholders to build loyalty to the organization. SATISFY STAKEHOLDERS Identify and enhance the ways stakeholders benefit from their association with the organization. Make interacting with the organization a delightful experience. Make stakeholders feel they are important to the organization. MOVE BEYOND AN EXCHANGE RELATIONSHIP TO A COMMUNAL RELATIONSHIP As noted above, exchange relationships are those in which two parties in a relationship expect a benefit in return for a benefit tit for tat. These relationships are the basis of most for-profit businesses. That is, a customer expects a certain quality product in exchange for the money he/she spends, and the organization expects the money in return for the product. Employees expect pay, benefits and a sense of fulfillment and organizations expect work and engagement.à A communal relationship goes beyond that. One party in the relationship believes the other will give benefits with no expectation of a return. An example of this is corporate social responsibility programs, such as when a bank goes beyond the basic business exchange to give back to the community by supporting programs that benefit neighborhoods.à Some argue that this corporate giving is not really selfless in that the organization expects good will in return for the benefit it bestows on the community. And this may be. Nevertheless, when a stakeholder believes an organization helps people without expecting anything in return, the relationship is at a different level than if the stakeholder believes the organization only trades benefit for benefit. THE IMPORTANCE OF MONITORING AND REVIEWING DIY Committee Guide (2012) Both research and common sense support the notion that we need to monitor the performance of stakeholder on an ongoing basis. If we are ever to know how we are doing, the management committee should use reports against its annual operational plans to review progress towards meeting the strategic aims and objectives. Therefore, they must ensure that whoever is doing the work is keeping appropriate records so that progress can be assessed. This will involve, at the implementation stage of the plan, being clear what systems and structures are required. The things you decide to measure will give an indication of how well youre doing, hence, the name indication or performance measures. Before completing your plan, you need to agree how and when it will be monitored and reviewed and what information the Management Committee needs to receive in order to review progress. When reviewing progress towards achieving the strategic aims and objectives, the Management Committee should: à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¢ensure that activities are kept within the parameters of the agreed strategic aims and objectives; à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¢ensure that activities are consistent with organizations vision, mission and values; and à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¢keep under review internal and external changes which may require changes to the organizations strategy or affect their ability to achieve their objectives. GETTING FEEDBACKS The quality of a partnership can be analyzed by getting feedback from the stakeholders through questionnaires or interviews CONCLUSION In closing, Id like to re-emphasize the importance of assessing the strength of the relationship at the outset. That there are six factors to manage when building relationships is a great insight. But to manage we must be able to measure. This tells us not only where to focus our efforts but also whether we have succeeded.

Little Richardââ¬â¢s Influence on Rock ââ¬ËNââ¬â¢ Roll History Essay
Rock and roll music emerged as a part of American teen culture during the notably conservative time period in the countryââ¬â¢s history which shortly followed the traumatic events of World War II. Being that the genreââ¬â¢s target audience was white teenagers, many Americans- already overwhelmed and on-edge due to the anti-communist movement inspired by the Cold War- were apprehensive about the influence that this up-and-coming style of music might have on their countryââ¬â¢s future. Americaââ¬â¢s youth openly accepted rock and rollââ¬â¢s racially integrated culture of performers and embraced the relatively lewd nature of many songs and performances associated with the genre, much to the dismay of their elders. Richard Wayne Penniman (better known by his stage name, Little Richard) had an important influence on the history of rock and roll music because of his unconventional stage presence and explicit sexuality. Artists such as Little Richard aggressively pushed the envelope, defied social norms and generated controversy. Richard, along with a few fellow pioneers, helped to define rock and roll in its early years, and paved the way for rock and rollers of future generations. Pennimanââ¬â¢s work left an everlasting impression on the musical genre and culture that is rock and roll. Considering the time in Americaââ¬â¢s history during which Little Richard appeared on the rock and roll scene, it is completely appropriate to attribute much of his fame and influence to his unconventional stage presence. The rising popularity of television during the 1950ââ¬â¢s fundamentally changed the music industry by presenting artists with an entirely new way to market themselves (or be marketed). Being televised meant that the overall look and presence of an artist played a more crucial role in stimulating audiences; the focus of listeners was no longer solely the sound of the music being produced. Prior to T. V. , music fans were only able to enjoy the sounds of their favorite artist by way of radio and the purchasing of records. In many cases, this meant that if a fan had never seen a live performance or record-jacket photo of a particular artist, itââ¬â¢s possible that they had never seen said artist at all and possessed only a general idea (if any) of what that artist looked like. As television sets became an increasingly popular household item for middle-class American families, ââ¬Å"live performances assumed a new importance for performers of rock ââ¬Ënââ¬â¢ roll music, and individual artists and vocal roups sought to cultivate visual characteristics or mannerisms that would set them apart from others and encourage listeners to remember themâ⬠¦ but no performer in the early years of rock ââ¬Ënââ¬â¢ roll was as visually flamboyant as Little Richard,â⬠(Schloss, Starr, and Waterman 1-75). A fanââ¬â¢s perception of an artist or group became subject to their opinion of the overall image of the performance. At this point in time, listening to the music of a completely respectable, clean cut, well dressed African-American was still considered inappropriate by a sizeable portion of white American society- particularly those living in the South and those beyond their teenage years. Many of these people were hesitant to accept racial integration, and tended to proceed cautiously when (or, more appropriately, if) they chose to do so. These are the same people that were unrightfully, but understandably, so frightened by performers like Little Richard. In order to differentiate himself from other rockers of the time, Richard usually wore heavy make-up and sported his famous pompadour hair style. As a former drag queen, Richard was fully aware of the type of reaction his look would draw from audiences; itââ¬â¢s the reaction he hoped to receive. Though, at the time, society as a whole was unsure of how to react to the statement his image made, ââ¬Å"theâ⬠¦ ambiguity of Little Richardââ¬â¢s sexual identityâ⬠¦ paved the way for the image of performers such as David Bowie, Elton John, and Prince,â⬠(Schloss, Starr, and Waterman 1-75). Just in case his eccentric outward appearance was not enough to gain the disapproval of parents across the nation, Little Richard put on an absolutely wild stage performance which included dramatic eye rolling and his simultaneous hip gyrating and piano playing. In order to dance and play piano at the same time, Little Richard stood (not sat) in front of the instrument- yet another feature of his performance that was specific to him. Little Richard aimed to gain the attention of his fans by creating an entirely original and exciting performance act. In order to do so, Richard created an image that was totally outside of societyââ¬â¢s definition of normal, respectable, and safe. His image was only half of his act, though. Itââ¬â¢s unlikely that there were many ââ¬Ërespectableââ¬â¢ white, American parents around in the 1950ââ¬â¢s that were comfortable with the idea of Little Richard having any type of influence over the generation deemed the ââ¬Ëfutureââ¬â¢ of their country, much less over their specific children. If there had been anyone left straddling that fence, however, contemplating just how harmful a 24-year-old performer with a whacky haircut and face full of make up could really be, it would be safe to assume that they had never actually heard the man sing. The lewd, scandalous lyrics that completed Little Richardââ¬â¢s unorthodox self-presentation would have provided the final push that landed the aforementioned fence straddler on the opposite side of Richardââ¬â¢s performance, and confirmed the popular idea that ââ¬Å"rockââ¬â¢s musical characteristics indicated a general decline in American taste,â⬠(Schloss, Starr, and Waterman 1-75). While teenagers danced to the sounds of the modified twelve-bar blues accompanying Richardââ¬â¢s shouting vocal style and countertenor whoops, parents instinctively cringed in disapproval of the blatantly suggestive lyrics. Hit songs by Little Richard such as ââ¬Å"Tutti-Frutti,â⬠(Penniman, 1955) and ââ¬Å"Long Tall Sally,â⬠(Penniman, 1956) contained lyrics that were generally non-specific, but overall relatively sexual for the time. Richardââ¬â¢s scandalous appearance, behavior, and song lyrics embodied a sexual tension that managed to both intrigue teenage audiences, and inspire fellow performers. It is this same sexual tension that made society at large not only generally uncomfortable, but also concerned about what other ludicrous notions rock and roll would try to impose upon American culture in the future. Little Richard used rock and roll as a platform to rattle the cages of the music industry, and change societyââ¬â¢s concept of what was acceptable, what was normal, and most of all what was popular. It was Richardââ¬â¢s unique image and abrasive song content that simultaneously intrigued and shocked American society in the early 1950s. American teenagers of this time appreciated the power of Little Richardââ¬â¢s performance and embraced Little Richard as the new spirit of rock and roll. Unfortunately, ââ¬Å"in 1957 Richard denounced his work and joined the churchâ⬠¦clos[ing] his most creative period,â⬠(Oxford University Press). Although the momentum of his influence eventually slowed, it never quite stopped. Rock and roll performers such as Jerry Lee Lewis, the Beatles, and the American Creedence Clearwater Revival all provide examples of music inspired by the work of Little Richard, proving the power of his influence and solidifying the lasting impression that he left on rock and roll.

Husky Injection Molding Systems
Question: What is Husky's strategy? Why has the company been so successful in the period prior to the recent problems? Husky follows a differentiation strategy by trying to offer a higher perceived value than its competitors in order to convince customers to pay a premium price for the companyââ¬â¢s products ââ¬â across its product line, Husky charges a 10% to 20% premium. Huskyââ¬â¢s success, prior to the recent problems, can be explained by the following value drivers: Huskyââ¬â¢s product featuresThe company is known in the industry for its high quality products. Huskyââ¬â¢s systems are speedier than the ones of the competition (for PET products, Huskyââ¬â¢s cycle time is 10% to 15% shorter) and they are believed to be more rugged. Furthermore, Huskyââ¬â¢s systems are able to produce thinner walls than competitorsââ¬â¢ machines, and their resin utilization and durability are higher. Unlike rivals, the company offers a fully integrated system of thinwall mol d, machine, and product-handling equipment. Huskyââ¬â¢s customer serviceThe company established technical centers in key locations to provide technical support to its customers. Huskyââ¬â¢s internal service force is known to be the strongest in the industry, and in addition, its sales force does an extraordinary job. Huskyââ¬â¢s complements In addition to Huskyââ¬â¢s systems, the company offers value-added services to provide greater perceived value for its customers: Huskyââ¬â¢s experts plan injection molding facilities for customers, train customers, integrate production systems, and produce turnkey factories. In addition to these internal developments, Husky was also able to take advantage of the fact that soft drink makers shifted rapidly to plastic bottles: The company could establish itself in the PET preform market by bringing a quick series of product innovations on the market; by 1995, 60% of the worldââ¬â¢s preforms were manufactured on Husky systems. All factors mentioned above contributed to Huskyââ¬â¢s good brand equity that, in turn, allows the company to charge a premium price for its products, thus creating a competitive advantage.

The Importance of Going to College - 765 Words
Is only knowledge that is deserved to learn at college? Will a man be brilliant if he is a studying machine? Will your mother be satisfied with you if you cannot even take care of yourself? As science and technology develops, more and more students choose to go to college instead of working after they graduate from high school. Their parents are strongly for this in that they can command more skills, or else they will be in a lower status in the society full of competition. Some may ask why we should go to college. From my point of view, not only should students learn knowledge in four years, but also they should learn how to cooperate with others, how to step into society in advance, how to take care of themselves as well as how to broaden their horizons in their tedious studying life. According to the opinion of a bloger blogger named Bing Xinjie, the greatness of a college is not lying in its buildings but is lying in that there are many brilliant people (Bing, 2011) . Every school absolutely has people or matters that affect us very much, so we are supposed to make sufficient use of resources in our school. Besides, college provides us with an easy atmosphere for studying which we do need to take good advantage of to learn something that we like or that we think is of great significance. Innovation and Reverse Innovation
Question: Explain Innovation and Reverse Innovation. Answer: Business phenomenon refers to something, which is very impressive and remarkable in a business environment. It implies that some unique strategic thinking of a company that is path breaking. This kind of business phenomenon adds significant value to the organization and every other business follows the same strategy for the development of the organization. This paper will focus on the business phenomenon: Innovation and Reverse Innovation. Innovation creates value to the organization. Innovation is possible through strategic thinking planning. With proper planning the innovation of the organization will lead to success of the company. Moreover, it leads to growth of the firm and consumers can avail more modern and innovative products and services. Strategic thinking of a company induces innovation and creativity. Innovation requires resource utilization and this can be done through proper strategic planning. Innovation is a part of strategic planning (Rothaermel 2015). To create ideal future, innovation assists the company to do something out of its comfort zone that exceeds the expectations of customers and companys requirement. Innovation should be meaningful; therefore, through proper strategic planning that includes the requirement of the customers; company and the employees, proper innovation takes place. To attain success of the firm because of highly added value to the company, the innovation should be benchmarking. The innovation should incorporate effective plans and involve employees ideas in order to ensure that the companys innovation is the best practice of the industry. When the company successfully implements the strategic thinking by initiating innovation process, then it will add value at every level of the organization (ODonohue 2015). Innovation creates competing elements and value management enables the stakeholders to understand the value of the new creation. Innovation helps an organization to be more competitive. Through value management of the company, unique value will be provided for customers. The aim of any strategy of a company is focused on producing new value through innovation. The strategic thinking of a company also incorporates planning of reverse innovation. in this process goods are developed by inexpensive model to meet the demand. Reverse innovation removes the expensive par t of the earlier innovation (Johnston and Bate 2013). However, this approach is not so competitive in nature but this helps to increase profit from selling of the products to the affluent section of the society. However, this enables the company to earn significant revenue. The reverse innovation process is mostly used in the developing countries. This kind of process also requires strategic planning, as it is important to understand the market for this kind of products. Whether this will create value to the consumers and add value to the company, depends on the fact how much the audience will accept the lower cost product. It is clear that, the innovation of product and reverse innovation brings something new to the society. It might be a new product or new process of production or an improved product. Therefore, this business phenomenon is important to be discussed. This assignment will discuss the review of the theory on this topic. It will also critically analyze application of the theoretical perspective of this business phenomenon. Literature Review Definition Innovation Due to social, economic and technological changes are the features of the global market place, it is important to adapt changes. Hence, to cope up with the changes innovation plays an important role in order to enhance the performance of the firm in building competitiveness. There is high interest of innovation studies as value judgment is attached to it. Scholars have defined innovation as an adoption of change. They emphasis on adoption, that is beyond the concept of new ideas. Innovation of production process is completed only when the innovation and operational structure of the company is achieved. Innovation is defined into six types of activity, such as, new services; new products; new methods of production; new sources of supply; opening new markets and new organizing way. Innovation performs as a key driver to deal with the problem of quantity; quality and speed (Davenport 2013). Therefore, creating new value proposition become a problem. The companies seek to maximize the se arch for new value and design it in the form of a new products; new process or new method of doing business. In this regard, the scholars referred that innovation is the capability of the organization to create new value proposition for the stakeholders. There are many variables that link to the innovation capability are, organizational culture; leadership; resources and participation of supplier, customer and employee. Innovation is a multidimensional concept as it is used to analyze performance of the business; firms innovation etc. Innovation not only implies the product or process innovation but also indicates innovation in the management system and in the organization. The authors of innovation pointed out three sequential components: innovation as an outcome; innovation as a process and innovation leadership. Crossan and Apaydin (2010) stated that innovation is exploitation; incorporation; production or adoption of a value added novelty in economic social and economic area. Innovation Generations Literature has identified that, there are various models that explain the innovation process. According to the Rothwell (2012), innovation process can be classified into five generations. During the first generation, the innovation was dominated by technology-push model. Here, innovation is interpreted as progressing way of R D. Innovation took place only in terms of manufacturing new products in the market. It was seen as a linear process, which assumed that the market is ready for the output of R D activities. It was believed that more is the engagement on the R D activity; the more would the innovations that are beneficial to the market and society. The second-generation innovation put focus on innovation in the marketing strategy. The market played a crucial role in the innovation process. The innovation was driven by the needs of the customers, therefore, it is known as market- pull model. The market was considered as the source of the ideas for conducting the research and de velopment. The third generation innovation process shifted to coupling model. The proponents have described is as a complex intra and extra organizational communication path, that links in-house functions and firms to broader technological and scientific community and marketplace (Anderson et al. 2012). This model has drawn attention to the significance of feedback. This process is influenced by the interactions of technological and market forces. The fourth generation innovation is an alternative model of the coupling model. The approach of product development process was based around a sophisticated functional integration and parallel activities. The information sharing process became efficient as the 4th generation innovation process promotes the cross-functional parallel development and more effective integration. The fifth generation or the present generation of innovation process resembles the networking processes. Rothwell (2012) has opined that this innovation process can be called as systems integration and networking process. This approach has generated due to mutual R D relationships; increasing international strategic alliances and growing consciousness of supply chain management; networking connections between large and small firms (James et al. 2014). Linkage to external networks and relations with the customers have been given importance in this generations innovation activities. The firms of the present generation stress on the networking among the organization and the role that competition plays in improving the innovation. Studies have also emphasized on the impact of geographical location to innovative capacity and identified that the networking is the major component of advancing the innovation capacity of the firm. Level Analysis Authors have pointed out that phenomenon of innovation has different levels of analysis. Broadly, they can be classified into industry- level; firm- level; subunit level; regional- level; national level. Industry level innovation refers to extra or intra-industry development of the innovation. The extra-industry level stresses on the aspects of that make distinction between innovation development pattern and innovation magnitudes. The intra-industry level stresses on differences in the time of adoption of innovation across firms and inferences of the innovation for performance of various organizations (Harrison et al. 2014). The firm or organization level innovation involves the process of outcome approach of the innovation. The process approach explains a broad range of events and orders central to innovation process. The outcome approach finds out the contextual; structural and behavioral features of innovation. The sub-unit level of analysis indicates the departmental innovation d ecision-making factors and communication that affect the R D unit; diversity in the RD team and also the tenure of the R D group. The geographic level of innovation emphasize on innovation capacity of the nation and contributing aspects of the level of input devoted to innovation and aspects that drive research and development activity of the nation (Malecki 2013). Regional level analysis is same as the national level analysis; the difference is that innovation can differ with respect to the region within the same nation. The firm level innovation can be classified into three categories: diffusion; organizational innovativeness and process theory (Kilic et al. 2015). The studies of diffusion try to explain and predict the rates of innovation adoption and the pattern over the time and space. The unit of analysis is innovation itself that has an extra-organizational focus. Organizational innovativeness focuses on the factors that influence the tendency of the firm towards the innovation. Unit of analysis is the organization. The process theory explains the processes of innovation by focusing on the way of implementation of the innovations by the organizations (Brockhoff, Chakrabarti, and Hauschildt 2013). Process of innovation is the unit of analysis. The literature on regional innovation is the complex networks of social informal relationships within a certain region that in order to develop the local innovative capacity through synergetic and combined learning process. Many literatures have looked int o the fact that spatial elements affect the innovative behavior. This concept has incorporated the significance of the social elements and transfer of know-how; imitation of managerial practices etc. national level analysis is group institutions that support innovative activities within the country. Innovation Process Gerybadze et al. (2012) described the innovation process as a stage that starts from strategic planning; innovation planning; idea generation; screening; selection of project; development of project; testing the market; production; introduction of the market and controlling the innovation. Literature reviews that innovation process depends on several dimensions: direction; source and locus. Direction dimension takes into account how the process starts and develops be it top-down or bottom-up. The source dimension involves the ideation behind the innovation that is internal source and adoption of innovation invented already that is external source. The locus dimension describes the extent of a process of innovation whether firm only or the network. According to Narvekar and Jain introduced three-stage innovation process, those are, ideation, incubation and demonstration (Volberda, Van Den Bosch and Mihalache 2014). It is suitable for technological innovation process and examines the n ature and association between innovation and intellectual capital. This process is used to explain the process of learning and the company generates flow of new knowledge; proficiency and capability. Firms Performance Many scholars have recognized the significance of innovation on the performance of the firm. A firm introduces changes in their structure and processes with the target to improve over its performance. Studies have found that high performance of the firm and rate of innovation of the firm has strong relationship. It has bee also identified that technical and administrative innovation contributed to the performance of the company. The climate of the organization, communication, personnel policies and interdepartmental relations can be changed by the administrative innovations. These kinds of innovation have more impact on long run. Hence, innovativeness can be determined by the capability of maintaining balance between the technical and social systems. In literature, it has also been found that synergies between two types of innovation and overall corporate performance can be provided through the association between administrative and technical innovation. Innovations play a meditation al role between performance and market orientation. Gunday et al. (2011) has classified firms performance in terms of production; innovation; market and finance. Innovation has positive impact on the firms performance in the manufacturing industries. The innovation is the main driver of firms performance and this should be considered as the integral part of the business strategy in order to enhance the operational performance. It has been found that, when the firm has achieved significant market performance when it has given priority to innovation and manages innovation through strategic thinking. According to Salomo et al. (2013) innovation has significant indirect performance impacts intervened by innovativeness of the organizations new product portfolio. Some organizations establish strategic alliances and joint venture in order to improve the rate of success from innovation. By networking with the external scientists in new areas to lead an entire new business is a crucial part of the company (Ngo and OCass 2013). For example, to develop new car by BMW, it relocated its members from finance; engineering; production; design; marketing and purchasing to a separate unit to work collaboratively. These kinds of teams are small and flexible and considered as creative organization. To keep the business alive with sufficient competency, the management of the company emphasizes on innovation. Innovation of product, management, process and corporate values keep the organizations expanding and changing (Prajogo 2016). A company cannot survive without innovation in the long run. It is important to recognize the need for change in th organization. Small and medium enterprises often fail because they do not see any incentive in introducing new product to create a niche market, where they have to change for surviving. Large firms invest on product innovation and process innovation. Reverse Innovation Reverse innovation is the new way of innovation in the developing nations. In this process the firms produces low-priced products that generates huge demand by the low income group. The product can be developed by the developed western world in the developing nations and returned back to the western countries, or, firms of the developing nations produce low price products, that are going to disorder the price structure in the western companies. The economical innovations are referred as reverse innovation. The product through reverse innovation attracts cost sensitive customers. Govindarajan and Euchner (2012) postulated that reverse innovations are the low cost innovations that diffuse into the less developed nations from the developed nations. Reverse innovation is the creation first adopted in the less developed market before they trickle up to the rich nations as well. However, the concept arises to produce low cost product for the affluent people; in the western world, the rever se innovation is used to serve the rich customers for a distinct purpose. For example, low cost ECG machine developed in India is used in the ambulances in western nations, as installing high cost ECG machine is impractical. It challenges the belief that innovation flows from the advanced nations. The literatures have found that low-income countries no longer receive innovation from the rich countries. They are now capable of innovating their own needs at a subsistence cost (Govindarajan and Trimble 2013). The western firms engage in reverse innovation because their subsidiaries in the low-income countries have different roles than the roles of the headquarters. The western companies entered the market of developing countries in order to reap the benefits out of R D and skills of innovation to their home countries. technology in emerging economies changes in the reverse direction from distribution to production, then to development to research. The products from reverse innovation have high cost advantages than the prevailing solutions. This is a process of strategically rethinking to reduce the cost of production for the development of the company. Gupta (2013) opined that reverse innovation is a management philosophy developed newly, that integrates specific requirement of the weaker section of the society. Some have considered reverse innovation as frugal. However, many have opined that frugal innovation is designed mainly to offer products to the affluent segments, whereas, reverse innovation refers to developing new products in developing nation that are then modified for sale in developed nation (Nunes and Breene 2011). This difference is important because reverse innovation is main challenge for western firms as R D is rapidly becoming important in the emerging markets (Goel and Singhal 2015). The reversely innovated products are developed for selling worldwide from the beginning. The primary situations that create possibility of reverse innovation ar e income gap; infrastructure gap and sustainability gap. The per capita income is very low in the emerging world; there is huge possibility that there will be a decent quality product will be produced at a lower cost. The most of the innovation is unattractive in rich world. The infrastructure gap is another motivation for reverse innovation. The demand for new and advanced infrastructure is more in the developing world than in the developed world. In the developed nations, advanced infrastructure is already present. Rich word only demand to replace the new infrastructure (Crisp 2014). Therefore, through reverse innovation, new products are developed at low cost for the emerging nations as well as to replace the infrastructure of the developed world. Another situation of innovation is created due to sustainability gap as well. Developing countries are dealing with environmental rigidity far sooner than the advanced nations. Therefore, some certain technological advancement or the ad vancement in the process of innovation is highly required in the underdeveloped region. Reverse innovation also requires shifting the power or the control from the headquarters and needs to reshape the models of the organization. Critical Analysis The linear model of innovation is inadequate for depicting the process of innovation. The critics of the linear model of first generation innovation have opined that this approach is oversimplified. The first reason is that the linear innovation model lacks to-and-fro process and the second reason is that it has placed too much emphasis on the research and development and other inputs of innovation are completely ignored. The major weakness of this model is that there is absence of feedback path within the process of development and from the market as well. Feedback is necessary for evaluating the performance of the firm. Kline and Rosenberg opined that the first generation model of innovation distorts the reality of innovation (Panopoulos and Sarri 2013). The second-generation model of innovation fails to consider the importance of the linkages to technological and scientific knowledge, which are essential element of the innovation; and only focused on market needs. It also neglects the other crucial inputs for innovation. The critiques opined that the innovation process of third generation is also sequential. It is complex as well. Various reviews seek the implication on the management issues of innovation process. Critiques have opined that organization may not involve in all stages of innovation. Hence, it is important to identify the deficiency of the organization in order to improve the overall success from innovation. The effectiveness of innovation process requires balance of all innovative factors like culture; leadership; participation etc (Davenport 2013). Moreover, implementation of innovation requires several techniques to support the innovation. The problem is that the process of innovation occurs as a sequence of tasks that requires coordination; interdependence of management and the control; communication and information stream. Process of innovation is necessary to create an environment to promote the technology breakthrough. Technical innovation is has less impact in the long run than administrative innovation, and instantly affect in the short run (Damanpour and Aravind 2012). Moreover, literatures reviewed suggest that even if innovation can yield positives benefits for business, it cannot be concluded that the innovation process equates performance of the business. Business performance is not an outcome of innovation alone. Success and failure of innovation process is considered to be necessary but it is not sufficient factor to affect the business performance and its survival. Moreover, it is not possible to quantify the relationship between innovative effort and innovations. This is because, the effort is measured by innovation cost; efficiency in resource usage and innovations is measured as impact on firm; profitability and market share. The strategy of innovation and hence investing in the R D activity can bring major benefits to the business. However, there are potential risks associated with it. An innovation can only offer competitive advantage if the rival firms are unable to replicate the process in their own products (Maughan 2012). Though, patent gives a protection from imitating the invented idea by other people, but some innovation is difficult to protect. The main disadvantage of innovation is that one innovation is made through huge innovation but all other companies are enjoying the benefits. Therefore, innovation sometimes faces problem of free riding. Sometimes research and innovation are speculative as there is no assurance that the company will earn significant revenue. It might also happen that due to long term development process, the research or the outcome is already innovated by the other firms. Hence, there is high risk associated with long run development process. R D demands a high rate of return as there is high risk involved in this activity (Schneider and Spieth 2013). Hence, the opportunity cost of investing for innovation is quite high. It has been reviewed from the literatures; innovation is costly due to high rates of failure. Moreover, critiques have opined that due to complexity and non-linearity and knowledge intensive investment the innovation is quite risky. In the industries, where the entry barriers are less stringent, there is hardly any incentive for an individual firm to innovate. Even if the innovation is successful, the costs involved in developing can be too high to avoid the risks. Performance measurement has four phases: design; implementation; use and maintenance. It has been criticized by the scholar that innovation will be a failure, if the innovate product is not accepted in the market. The major disadvantage regarding innovation is that, innovation requires extensively high level of investment that might not be paid back during the life cycle of the product (Rothaermel 2015). The concentration of resources on the new product ignores the necessity for marketing of the existing product and maintaining the quality of the existing product. Moreover, innovation does not always produce superior products or the new innovated process is not always efficient. Hence, the effort or the investments become a waste for the organization. Innovation alone may not lead to improve in the business performance; the firm must have capacity to implement the innovation. Critics have also mentioned that innovation of technology reduces the dependency of the company on the labor force (Boons et al. 2013). This is highly debatable issue as this leads to loss of job . Therefore, the concept of innovation is highly criticized by the people. In addition to this, even if the innovation is not labor saving, it might be possible that due to implementation of the process, the employees may find it difficult to adapt the change. During incorporating the changes, the employees are supposed to be on the learning curve; therefore, the productivity declines in the short run. The performance of business might improve but overall impact of innovation is quite doubtful in nature. As discussed, the as workers lose job due to technical changes resulting from innovation. As a result of this, jobless people have to come to grips with the change in paradigm. Innovation is also criticized because; process innovation may lead to economies of scale that drives down the rivals and results into monopoly power. This might cause market to fail. Due to the disadvantages of innovation, most companies are engaged in reverse innovation. The reverse innovation enables firms to reduce the high cost of product innovation. Innovation is referred as knowledge development (Berchicci 2013). Small firms lack innovation but they are engaged in certain innovation activities. The source of knowledge in the small firms is the imitation of knowledge from bulk innovation (Westney 2013). Hence, they cannot have competitive advantage over others. Hence, through reverse innovation no significant knowledge is developed; therefore, it is believed that contribution of innovation is more than the reverse innovation. However, the disadvantages of reverse innovation is that, to relocate the operations of the MNCs to the developing nations, it requires some times; and cost and energy to invest (Yip and McKern 2014). This is a lengthy process and may require huge cost. Critiques have also opined that the reverse innovation is risky as customers may not prefer low cost products, as they may perceive a low quality of the innovated product. In this kind of case, reverse innovation is risky, as the market may not accept the product. The product of reverse innovation is mostly risky in the developed nations, as the market is niche there. Conclusion The report has discussed about a business phenomenon, reviewed the literature and critically analyzed it. Innovation and Reverse innovation is chosen as a topic as it is considered as a random and unpredictable phenomenon. All firms have same probability of innovating and ensuring the competitive advantages. However, some innovations are successful and some fail. In this report, the literature regarding the innovation has been reviewed. The literature has reviewed definition of innovation. The generations of innovations have also been explained. The report has also reviewed different levels of innovation. The process of innovation has also been described. The literature mainly focuses on the business performance of the firm. The report also aimed to describe the concept of reverse innovation. The report also critically analyzed the idea of innovation. The report has described the problem of different generations of innovation. It has also criticized that the process of innovation req uires proper coordination, without which the entire effort might be failed. Moreover, some effect of innovation is instant and some takes a long span to be realized. It has been realized that innovation has significant positive impact on the performance of the business, as it allows to be more competitive in the market. In spite of this fact, there is high risk associated with innovation. The report has described the advantages of reverse innovation and identified that how this kind of innovation is growing in the developing nations. To capture the share of the low-income segment, reverse innovation is considered as a best practice. From the above discussion, it is clear that, innovation is inevitable for every organization. Innovation leads to path breaking business practices, which achieves high levels of profit. However, the other firms can use an innovation of another firm as well, if it is not protected properly. Hence, copying a innovated product or the new process then it cau ses high risks for the firm that has invested to innovate. The paper has criticized this kind of disadvantages of the innovation in a business. The firms need proper strategic thinking for innovating a product, however, it is more important to implement the innovation strategically, that needs to have proper planning. It has been identified that innovation adds value to the organization and hence, it is important for the organizations to invest in the innovation and reverse innovation.
